High Performance Salon Academy “Elevating Perceptions” Student Scholarship - (All Disciplines)

High Performance Salon Academy’s mission is to elevate the world’s perception of the Beauty Industry, which they implement by providing salons the tools, education, and resources to increase their potential earnings and create a business that thrives, succeeds, and supports beauty professionals to be their best.

The High Performance Salon Academy has launched the “Elevating Perceptions” Student Scholarship that will provide funding for those students currently enrolled in a cosmetology, barber, esthetics, and nail technology program at an accredited college in the United States and Canada. 

Award Amount | # of Recipients 

$14,000 total and seven (7) recipients for the Spring 2024 season.

One (1) $5,000 Scholarship 

Two (2) $2,500 Scholarships

Four (4) $1,000 Scholarships 

Scholarships will be awarded during the Spring 2024 season open from March 1 – May 31, 2024.  

Applicant Qualifications 

High Performance Salon Academy “Elevating Perceptions” Student Scholarship requires the following qualifications to be eligible:

  1. This scholarship is open to new or currently enrolled students in a cosmetology, barber, esthetics, or nail technology program that leads to licensure at an accredited school in the U.S or Canada.
  2. Applicant must be eighteen (18) years of age or older by the start date of the program at the accredited school or institution.

Application Requirements

  1. Complete online application and submit proof of enrollment document, official acceptance letter, or progress report in a cosmetology, barber, esthetics, or nail technology program that leads to licensure at an accredited school in the U.S or Canada.
  2. Submit a 3-minute maximum. YouTube video with a public link answering the following questions:
  • Why did you choose a career in in the professional beauty industry?
  • What financial hurdles are you experiencing that a scholarship by High Performance Salon Academy would support you in completing your goals.
  • What can you do to elevate the perception of a career in beauty industry and how to hope to use these skills to be successful once you become licensed?

High Performance Salon Academy is a coaching community focused on elevating the beauty industry. We provide salon, spa, and barbershop owners with tailored guidance and support, helping them enhance their leadership skills, optimize business growth, and achieve personal development. Our approach combines hands-on strategies with a supportive network, empowering salon owners to transform both their businesses and themselves.

This scholarship was developed to support the future professionals.  High Performance Salon Academy would like to honor the passing of a devoted colleague, peer and industry professional.  These scholarship will be given to honor Blair Helvey and her passion for this community of professionals.

Blair Morgan Helvey, 28, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022. She was born September 1, 1993, in Salina, KS to Dean and Sandra (Cockroft) Choitz. Family was everything to Blair. She loved her family and the many occasions they spent together. After Blair graduated from Ellsworth High School in 2012, she went on to study at Bellus Academy in Manhattan, KS.

Upon her graduation in 2013, she went to work for the Hair Loft Salon & Spa in Salina, KS.  Blair’s career was never just work; it was her passion. Her coworkers were like family. Blair always strived to improve and better her skills so that she could help others, traveling to many states for her continuing education.

Blair married Joseph “Joe” Helvey on December 29, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ellsworth. Joe was the love of Blair’s life. When she wasn’t working, she could be found by Joe’s side, whether it was riding in the semi to the elevator with him or sitting next to him in the tractor or combine. The love they had for each other was unrivaled and together they had a zest for life, traveling together every chance they got.   

Blair is survived by her husband Joseph Helvey of Ellsworth, KS; parents, Dean and Sandy Choitz of Ellsworth; brother Ethan Choitz (Amanda) of Concordia, KS; niece and nephews, Cayden, Reagyn, and Rhett; Grandmother Dorothy Choitz of Ellsworth; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, George Choitz and George McCormick.
