DERMALOGICA '"NEW BEGINNINGS" ESTHETICS SCHOLARSHIP 2021

Dermalogica has generously funded the “New Beginnings” Esthetics Scholarship 2021. Founded in 1986 by Jane Wurwand, out of a desire to provide skin therapists with best-in-class products and education, Dermalogica has grown to become the #1 choice of skin care for professionals worldwide. It's mission, rooted in education is to inspire women in underserved communities to develop the skills they need to be independent.

Dermalogica's “New Beginnings" Esthetics Scholarship is open to BIPOC students who are newly accepted or currently enrolled in an esthetics program at a *Dermalogica partner school. The esthetics student scholarship will be awarded through Beauty Changes Lives.

Scholarship Name:  Dermalogica – “New Beginnings” Esthetics Scholarship
Award Amount | # of Recipients

 $20,000 total awards for 2021 | $5,000 x 4 Recipients (total)
(2) for spring 2021, open from June 1 – August 31, 2021

 (2) for fall 2021, open from September 1 – November 30, 2021.

Awardees will also receive mentorship by a Dermalogica expert skin therapist.

Applicant Qualifications
· Must be a currently enrolled (or a newly accepted student) in a Dermalogica partner school, leading to licensure in the U.S.
· Applicant must identify as a person of color to qualify.
· Applicant must submit proof of enrollment in an esthetics program by uploading an acceptance letter, progress report, or official school letter.

Learning is the spark that ignites growth and fuels a rewarding career. Rooted in a commitment to “learn and grow” the Renée Rouleau Esthetician Scholarship aims to kindle new talent with the spark of education and set ablaze a vibrant future for next gen skin care professionals.

This scholarship lifts up the next generation of estheticians as it encourages students to take the first step toward their dream career – by investing in professional education. Applicants are invited to share what inspires their career calling and their goals for the future as a licensed esthetician. Through this scholarship, Renée Rouleau Skin Care and Beauty Changes Lives aim to nurture glowing careers and invest in beautiful, careers that change lives.

Application requirements:

  • Must be a new or currently enrolled esthetic students attending a school that leads to licensure in the U.S.
  • Must upload proof of enrollment in an esthetics program i.e.: acceptance letter or progress report from school

Kate Somerville and Foster Nation "Defy Impossible" Scholarship 



Kate Somerville + Foster Nation "Defy Impossible" Esthetics Scholarship Fall 2021

Description & Award Information

Kate Somerville Skin Health Experts is partnering with Foster Nation to support foster youth as they age out of the  system -- providing resources, professional training, and mentorship. As part of this partnership, the Kate Somerville  + Foster Nation “Defy Impossible” Esthetics scholarship supports professional beauty career paths for foster youth.  

This scholarship is open to individuals aging out, or have already aged out of the foster care system and are planning to enroll in a California esthetics program. In addition to funding this scholarship, there may be opportunities for training at a Kate Somerville Skin Health Experts Clinic with a licensed skin therapist. 


Three (3) $10,000 tuition scholarships will be awarded in the Fall season. 


 Applicant Qualifications

 • The applicants must have spent any length of time in the foster care system before the age of 18

• Must be a United States Citizen living in the state of California.


Application Requirements

 1. Complete online application.

2. Proof of time spent in foster care – either a Ward of Court letter from the California Ombudsmen Office,  or from your social worker.  

3. Submit a 3-minute maximum public YouTube video URL ONLY answering the following questions (a-c):

OPI'S  "A GREAT OPERA-TUNITY" STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP 2021

OPI's "A Great Opera-Tunity" scholarship will be awarded through the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation and is open to newly accepted or currently enrolled POC students in a nail technology program that leads to licensure in the U.S. or Canada.  To qualify, applicants must identify as a person of color.

$36,000 Total Donation / twelve (12) $3,000 scholarships will be available during our 2021 and 2022 scholarship years.

Summer Season 2021– four (4) $3,000 scholarships available / Open from: June 1, 2021 – August 31, 2021

Fall Season 2021– four (4) $3,000 scholarships available / Open from: September 1, 2021 – November 30, 2021

Winter Season 2022– four (4) $3,000 scholarships available / Open from: December 1, 2021 – February 28, 2022

  • The OPI  "A Great Opera-tunity scholarship is open to newly accepted or currently enrolled POC students in a nail technology program leading to licensure in the U.S. or Canada.  To qualify, applicants must identify as a person of color.

The new BABOR Breaking Boundaries Esthetics Scholarship is administered by the non-profit Beauty Changes Lives.
Embracing the spirit of BABOR, the BABOR Breaking Boundaries scholarship celebrates inclusivity, diversity and the many pathways to career satisfaction available to licensed professionals. The tuition scholarships open educational doors of opportunity that prepare students  to meet spa employers’ demand for estheticians, massage therapists and beauty professionals.
Award Amount: Four (4) $3,125 esthetics tuition scholarships will be awarded annually in 2021 and 2022.
Award Timing: Two (2) scholarships will be available during our spring season March 1 – May 31, 2021.
Two (2) scholarships will be available during our spring season September 1 – November 30, 2021.

Applicant Qualifications: The BABOR Breaking Boundaries Esthetics Scholarship will be available exclusively to Black, Indigenous, People of Color in 2021. The applicants must identify as a person of color to qualify.
This scholarship is open to students currently enrolled or newly accepted into an Esthetics program in 2021 leading to licensure in the U.S. or Canada.
Application Requirements: Complete online application and submit proof of enrollment or acceptance to an esthetics program by uploading a legible copy of either: acceptance letter, progress report, or official letter from your school (must include name of school and your name).

Scholarship Horst Rechelbacher Foundation’s “Sustainable Beginnings” Cosmetology / Barbering 2021  scholarships  will be awarded through the Beauty Changes Lives Organization.
Applications are accepted September 1 – November 30, 2021
Award Amount | $3,500 | Total # of  winners awarded: 5-Spring 5-Fall
Horst Rechelbacher founded the Aveda Corporation, a global plant-based cosmetic company, & ushered a new consciousness into the world of beauty. Two decades later, he shifted focus to Intelligent Nutrients, a health & beauty company that lives to the highest standards of certified organic ingredients to sustainable plant-based chemistry. All of Horst’s innovations revolved around beauty products that would care for professionals, their guests & the planet through the power of pure flower & plant essences. Horst’s entrepreneurial vision is to create successful businesses in partnership with nature. As he puts it, “Business can be a solution to our planet’s crisis rather than the problem. We are at the threshold of the Sustainable Evolution, and I believe it will be even greater than the industrial revolution. It is a very exciting time for innovative thinkers and future-minded entrepreneurs, who I call ‘Ecopreneurs.’ This scholarship is for prospective or currently enrolled students of the beauty industry. The “Sustainable Beginnings” scholarship is designed to financially support those seeking licensure in the fields of cosmetology or barbering

The Sage Michaela Lucas Timing is Everything scholarship is generously funded by Circadia, a pioneer in the science of chronobiology and skincare. The Sage Michaela Lucas Timing is Everything award celebrates diversity, inclusivity and affirmation.  The scholarship is open to  students currently enrolled or accepted in an accredited esthetics program, who identify as black, indigenous or persons of color (BIPOC). The scholarship grant targets esthetic students pursuing a career in skincare formulation and/or cosmetic chemistry.
Award Amount: $5,000 tuition scholarships per awardee
Award Timing:Three (3) awardees during fall 2021 season open from September 1 – November 30, 2021.
Applicant Qualifications: The applicant must identify as a person of color to qualify: BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or person of color). The scholarship is open to esthetics students enrolled or accepted into an accredited program that leads to licensure in the U.S. or Canada.
Judging: A panel of judges representing the professional skincare sector will evaluate applicant's video submissions and select winners.

The Horst Rechelbacher Foundation + Green Circle Salon Membership
Green Circle Salons’ is a movement to help the salon industry reduce its environmental footprint and provide options for consumers seeking genuine green options in salon care. Since its inception in 2009, GCS has been building a network of more than 3,400+ certified salons, schools and advanced academies throughout North America and providing them with a comprehensive pathway to financial and environmental sustainability with a green business program; including recycling and repurposing up to 95% of their beauty waste.  Today, GCS diverts more than 1.8 million pounds of waste from landfill spaces and waterways in North America annually.
Applicant Requirements – “Green Circle Salon Membership”
Must be a licensed business owner of a salon and/or spa. Must upload proof of licensure i.e.: business owner license. Salon must have a commission-based or hourly-based salary model. Must check-out a minimum of 300+ guests per month. Must be willing to remit monthly recycling fee paid by guest.

Scholarship Details:
The Moroccanoil Courage to Dream Scholarship  was created to  honor  and encourage the education of anyone who has overcome overwhelming obstacles that have prevented them from pursuing their dream of a career in beauty. The scholarship recognizes the perseverance, tenacity and grit that distinguish so many beauty professionals’ paths to success. Whether a health burden, challenging life circumstances  or  other hardship, the  obstacles along the path can fuel a professional’s journey to success. This scholarship recognizes and celebrates those who believe their craft can make a difference and are willing to push through barriers to achieve their dream of a career in beauty.
Applicant Requirements:

  • Must be a new or currently enrolled student in a cosmetology program
  • Must upload proof of enrollment i.e.: acceptance letter or progress report from school
  • Application must include three (3) photos of your artistic work on a mannequin, client, friends or family showing your creative abilities
  • Application must upload a 3-minute (maximum) video answering the following questions:
  1. Describe a situation where you’ve displayed immense courage; Found the energy to persevere against all odds.
  2. Include a description of what having the “courage to dream” means to you.



Moroccanoil - "Cultivating Confidence" Scholarship
Every day, thousands of people walk in and strut out of salons feeling more confident. We believe that confidence is a force for good and we want to put it into action. We also believe education is a powerful pathway to help level the playing field for all, helping people to move boldly forward to where they want to go. The Moroccanoil Cultivating Confidence Scholarship intended to provide an educational opportunity for all qualified applicants to help offset the cost of tuition.

Scholarship Amount and Timing:

Two (2) awards of $5,000 will be awarded in the Fall Season (September 1- November 30, 2021)

Applicant Requirements:

  • Must be a new or currently enrolled student in a cosmetology program

Heinemann 


The Moroccanoil John Heinemann Memorial Scholarship  

The Moroccanoil John Heinemann Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the life of John Heinemann. John Heinemann joined the Moroccanoil family as an Educator in 2013, and over the course of the following years, excelled in his role - educating and embodying the traits and qualities of a truly exceptional professional and individual. He was the recipient of Moroccanoil’s Above and Beyond award in both 2018 and 2019, and is the only Educator in the company’s history to have received an award more than once. He touched the lives of countless stylists during his time as an educator and through knowledge and education, elevated himself by lifting others.


Scholarship Amount:
$5,000 to offset the cost of cosmetology program tuition
